Reducing the Use of Polythene in Religious Premises
REDUSING THE USE OF POLYTHENE FROM RELIGIOUS PLACESS
This 3R Project was initiated by Miss Priyanthi Rajapaksa Project executive
At the Waragoda Bodhirukkaramaya Temple Kelaniya, Where she observer
Sile on Vesak Day. This idea originated from her when she noticed that an immerse amount of poluthene sheets and bags was used during poya-day. Guider and a teacher who were at the temple helped her to separate the polythene from the food which was thrown together .Later on she made this as a project for the whole island
Through the Girl Guide Association. Little Friends ,Guides from Sirimavo bandaranayake Balika Colombo. Dharmaloka Maha Vidyalaya and Helen Balika vidyalaya kelaniya organized the 3R project in several temples. This is the first time that a project being continuously carried out in a religious place.
The religious dignatouries of the respective temples were very pleased with the manner in which the project been carried out by the Guides.
The Guiders (leaders) Mrs>wasanaJayasekera, Mrs. Pushpa Nagasena,Mrs. Priyanka and also the Zonel Commissioner Mrs. Muriel Rathnaweera the Guiders (leaders) who are participating at the Projects.
