Since it was a Poya day, the garbage was in large scales. People who came for sill threw their leftovers in the correct bins. In the afternoon dispose of the garbage in the bins to the bio square. polythene, plastic & glass were given to the Pradeshiya Sabha. 12th August 2009 – Cleaned around the bio square & collected the garbage that was put aside. We put the disposable garbage in the bins to the bio square & handed over garbage like polythene, plastic & glass to the Urban Council’s lorry. We also washed the bins. Then we spreader some good soil around the bio square. 18th August 2009 – We carried out the programme. 4th September 2009 – The sill observers had a fair knowledge about our project. Therefore they worked cooperatively with us. They (Poya day) threw their leftovers in the respective bins. Once the sill programme was over, we put the disposable garbage to the bio square & washed the bins. We disposed of the Polythien the same way as before. 18th September 2009 – We put up some posters informing how to separate the garbage into different bins for the community who comes to worship to have a knowledge of garbage separation. We are still carrying on this programme as we are happy to see a change in the temple premises and also the behavior of the community.
